After a lightning-fast review of thousands of newly uncovered emails, the FBI director on Sunday said he is standing by his July decision to recommend no criminal charges against Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton over her use of a private server.
In a letter to congressional leaders, Director James Comey said FBI agents had “been working around the clock to process and review a large volume of emails” that he revealed just over a week ago, throwing the presidential campaign into turmoil.
“During that process, we reviewed all of the communications that were to or from Hillary Clinton while she was Secretary of State,” he wrote.
“Based on our review, we have not changed our conclusions that we expressed in July with respect to Secretary Clinton.”
The emails were reportedly found on a laptop that disgraced ex-pol Anthony Weiner shared with his now-estranged wife, top Clinton aide Huma Abedin.
Authorities seized the computer as part of an investigation into a report that Weiner engaged in explicit, sexual communications with an underage girl in North Carolina.
