National Single Window (NSW) project

November 19, (THEWILL) — The Federal Government has initiated User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for the National Single Window (NSW) project, a key milestone as the trade‑facilitation platform moves closer to its planned launch in March 2026.

During the testing phase, the systems vendor, CrimsonLogic, led stakeholders, including importers, exporters, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), and other relevant government agencies, through onboarding, navigation, and platform workflows.

Also present at the launch were the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and FIRS Executive Chairman, Dr Zacch Adedeji, who reviewed progress and provided feedback on key regulatory, compliance, and operational aspects.

The NSW project, championed by President Bola Tinubu, was established to centralise and harmonise trade operations across government agencies.

The platform aims to drastically reduce cargo clearance times, simplify documentation, and cut trade costs, with a target to be implemented by the first quarter of 2026.

Vice President Kashim Shettima has described the NSW rollout as a “game changer” for Nigerian ports, noting that the system would help cut average cargo clearance times from about 21 days to fewer than 7 days.

If fully implemented on schedule, the NSW could significantly boost trading efficiency by reducing delays, cutting red tape, and making cross-agency documentation more transparent.

For importers and exporters, the system promises major cost savings and faster cargo movement, which could in turn improve Nigeria’s trade competitiveness.

For government agencies, the unified platform may help reduce revenue leakages, improve regulatory compliance, and strengthen data sharing.

With UAT now underway, the project is on track for its March 2026 launch; However, stakeholders will closely monitor the onboarding and real-world testing process. Ongoing collaboration between regulators, customs, and private sector users will be critical to ensuring the platform delivers on its promise of faster, more transparent trade.
