BEVERLY HILLS, CA, December 23, (THEWILL) – Yobe State Government has been assured that the Federal Government would complete all abandoned federal projects in the state.
Minister of State for Finance, Alhaji Yerima Ngama, gave the assurance at the weekend while inspecting some of the projects in the company of the Chairman, House Committee on Millennium Development Goals, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwu, and some senior officials of the Federal Ministry of Works.
The visit by Ngama, who is also from Yobe State, was part of the Good Governance Tour of the Federal Ministry of Information.
The Minister promised that President Goodluck Jonathan is poised to complete all the projects, some of which, he said are suffering from inadequate funding while others had long been abandoned.
The projects inspected during Ngama’s visit included the Hadejia/Nguru-Gashua and Gashua-Bayamari roads.
The delegation also inspected the newly established School of Midwifery at Nguru where the Waziri of Nguru Emirate expressed happiness over the location of the school in the locality.
The entourage also inspected the Army Clinic and some classrooms at the Primary School under construction at the 241 RECCE Battalion Nguru being undertaking by the Presidential Committee on Barrack Rehabilitation (PCBR) through the MDGs.
Receiving the minister at the Barrack was the Commanding Officer, Maj. Haruna Bala Haruna, who expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of work at the clinic.
The Minister was however overwhelmed at the work at the primary school, saying “ the quality of work here at the primary school is beyond my expectations.”
He added: “I must commend Hajia Binta of MDG for this initiative. You can see that they are building entirely a new school instead of rehabilitating an existing one.”
The Minister also inspected the Gashua Police Barack under construction by the Police Community Relations Board and the Gashua Maximum Prison which has been abandoned for the about 30 years.
