
May 12, (THEWILL) — Fidelity Bank Plc has posted a strong financial performance for the 2025 financial year, with gross earnings rising by 45.6 percent to ₦1.52 trillion, driven by growth in interest income, fees and commissions, and stronger customer activity across its operations.
According to the bank’s audited financial results released on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), gross earnings increased from ₦1.04 trillion recorded in 2024, underscoring sustained business expansion and improved revenue generation.
Profit after tax for the year stood at ₦242.4 billion, supported by robust growth across major income lines. Interest and similar income rose by 38.7 percent year-on-year to ₦1.11 trillion from ₦803.1 billion in the previous year, reflecting higher earnings from lending activities and investment portfolios.
Non-interest revenue also strengthened significantly, with fees and commission income increasing by 44.7 percent to ₦113.4 billion from ₦78.4 billion in 2024, highlighting increased transaction volumes and improved digital banking activity.
The bank’s balance sheet remained resilient during the period, with total assets growing by 18.6 percent to ₦10.46 trillion, compared with ₦8.82 trillion in the prior year. Customer deposits also expanded by 16.1 percent year-on-year to ₦6.89 trillion, indicating continued customer confidence and a stronger liquidity position.
Despite the overall growth, net loans and advances declined slightly by 2.4 percent to ₦4.28 trillion from ₦4.39 trillion in 2024, as customers repaid maturing loan obligations during the year.
Fidelity Bank also strengthened its capital base, with eligible capital rising to ₦561 billion, exceeding the Central Bank of Nigeria’s ₦500 billion minimum capital requirement for banks with international authorisation.
In addition, the lender recorded a significant improvement in its Capital Adequacy Ratio, which increased to 30.94 percent as of December 31, 2025, from 23.47 percent in the previous year, reflecting a stronger capital buffer and improved financial resilience.
