May 12, (THEWILL) — Welsh singer, Bonnie Tyler, is recovering in a hospital in Portugal after undergoing emergency surgery last week for a perforated intestine and a burst appendix.
On Tuesday, her spokesman said the singer, 74, remains seriously ill, but is showing signs of recovery.
“As of this morning, Bonnie remains seriously ill but stable in the hospital in Faro; however, her doctors are still positive that she will make a full recovery.
“When there is any further news of Bonnie’s condition, then we will issue another statement”, he stated.
Tyler was taken to the hospital on Wednesday, May 6, and placed in an induced coma after emergency surgery at a hospital in Faro.
Her family has also asked for privacy and urged the public to avoid spreading false information during her recovery.
Fans and fellow musicians have shared messages of support on social media, wishing her a full recovery.
Tyler is best known for her global hits, including “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, “Holding Out for a Hero”, and “It’s a Heartache.”
She rose to international fame in the 1980s and has sold millions of records worldwide.
In 2023, she was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to music.
