December 03, (THEWILL) – World football governing body FIFA has announced the draw pots for the 2025 Club World Cup, scheduling the event for June 15 – July 13 across the United States.
For the tournament, 12 stadiums and 11 host cities will participate, with the final set to take place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Top European and South American football clubs have been categorised into four distinct pots, ensuring a balanced and competitive tournament structure.
Pot one features prominent teams including Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Flamengo, Palmeiras, River Plate, and Fluminense, representing the highest-ranked clubs from UEFA and CONMEBOL confederations.
The tournament will follow a group stage format, with 32 teams divided into eight groups of four.
The top two teams from each group will advance to a single-leg knockout round, creating an intense competitive environment for participating clubs. Importantly, teams from the same confederation cannot be drawn together, with a slight exception allowing two UEFA teams in a group.
Inter Miami, who have football legend Lionel Messi in their squad, will participate as the host country representative.
The team is guaranteed placement in Group A and will open the tournament, alongside Seattle Sounders, another United States representative in Group B.
The comprehensive draw will take place on Thursday in Miami and will determine the initial group compositions.
