March 15, (THEWILL) – FIFA has made minor modifications to the match officials’ roster for the 2022 World Cup playoff match between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Ghana’s Black Stars, billed for this month.
As THEWILL reported, both teams will compete in a double-header for one of Africa’s five slots at Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, with the first leg taking place in Cape Coast on March 25 and the reverse fixture in Abuja on March 29.
Morocco’s Rédouane Jiyed, has been retained as the centre referee for the first leg, according to a new appointment sheet provided to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) by the world football governing body.Â
Three of Jiyed’s compatriots will help him: Lahsen Azgaou (assistant referee 1), Mostafa Akarkad (assistant referee 2) and Samir Guezzaz (fourth official).
However, Ugandan Mandu Humphrey has taken over as Security Officer, from South African David Junse Van Vuuren. The VAR official will be Bernie Raymond Blom of the Netherlands, who will be assisted by compatriot Rob Dieperink, while the referee assessor will be Athanse Nkubito of Rwanda.
The match commissioner will be Gregorio Badupa of Guinea-Bissau, and the general coordinator will be Victor Lawrence Lual of South Sudan.
In preparation for the return leg in Abuja, FIFA has replaced former FIFA referee, Essam Abdelfattah Abdelhamid, who was scheduled to act as referee assessor, with Senegalese Badara Diatta, another former FIFA referee.
Sadok Selmi of Tunisia is the centre referee, with Tunisian Khalil Hassani as assistant referee 1 and Libyan Attia Amsaaed as assistant referee 2.
Tunisian Haythem Guirat is the fourth official, while VAR Jérôme Brisard and assistant VAR Willy Louis Delajod are Frenchmen.Â
The match commissioner is Prince Kai Saquee of Sierra Leone, and the general coordinator is South African Kabelo Bosilong.
