BEVERLY HILLS, July 06, (THEWILL) – Germany is the highest ranked team in the world in the latest FIFA ranking which was released by the world governing football body on Thursday.
The Germans returned to the top of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking spot for the first time since being knocked off the top spot exactly two years ago with a total of 1609 points.
THEWILL recalls that Germany, current world cup champions, clinched the FIFA confederations cup last Sunday.
Germany was closely followed by Brazil with 1603 points while Argentina was ranked 3rd with 1413 points.
Portugal retained 4th position with 1332 points followed by Switzerland, Poland and Chile in 5th, 6th and 7th respectively with 1329, 1319 and 1250 points.
Colombia was 8th with 1208 points, France was 9th with 1199 points while Belgium completed the top 10 spot at 10th position with 1194 points.
However, Nigeria slipped from 38th in the world to 39th position as it dropped fifteen points.
On the continent, the Super Eagles had to settle for sixth position having being fourth in the previous ranking.
Egypt was ranked the best team on the continent in the ranking followed by Senegal, Congo DR, Tunisia and Cameroon respectively.
Meanwhile, the next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 10 August 2017.
