June 30, (THEWILL) – FIFA, the international governing body for football, has revealed the pots for the African draws ahead of the qualification series for the highly anticipated 2026 World Cup.
The tournament will be jointly hosted by North American countries Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Nigeria finds itself in Pot 1, along with Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, Cameroon, Algeria, Egypt, and Mali. The official group draw is scheduled to take place on July 12.
In the forthcoming draw, all participating countries will be allocated into nine groups comprising six teams each. The group winners will secure their spots in the 2026 World Cup. Additionally, the four highest-ranking teams finishing in second place will engage in a mini-tournament, with the victor earning a place in the Intercontinental play-off.
