BEVERLY HILLS, July 01, (THEWILL) – Fire broke out at the third floor of the Federal Secretariat Complex in Abuja on Saturday morning, but no serious damage was wrecked on the Ministry of Health which is housed on that floor.

The ministry later issued a statement signed by director, media and public relations in the ministry, Boade Akinola, disclosing that after assessing the outbreak, it was clear that there was no damage to any government property.

The statement explained that the fire was caused by an electric spark from cables and wires which resulted in a small fire on the corridor of the third floor, wing B of the Federal Ministry of Health Headquarters.

Akinola however stated that the inferno had been contained as the private security outfit in charge of the premises swung into action and also contacted the fire service which responded immediately and put off the fire.

The Director-General of the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Service, Alhaji Abass Idriss had earlier stated that the fire had been brought under control.

“We suspect that the fire was from an electrical spark, but everything is under control, the fire has been put off, and the damage wasn’t much,” he had said.
