January 12, (THEWILL) — First HoldCo Plc has announced new board appointments across its non-commercial banking subsidiaries, as part of measures to strengthen governance, deepen oversight and position the businesses for sustainable growth.

In a statement issued by the group’s media unit on Sunday, First HoldCo said the appointments followed regulatory approvals from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).

Noting that board changes were aimed at injecting seasoned professionals into its subsidiaries while aligning their operations with international best practices in corporate governance, the statement emphasised that the leadership refresh reflects the strategic resolve of the First HoldCo Board to make its non-banking businesses future-ready in both product offerings and service delivery.

At First Asset Management Ltd., Ms Ebikabo Williams was appointed Chairman of the Board, bringing extensive experience across banking, capital markets and consulting. Other members of the board include Usman Dantata Jr., Binta Gbinije and Alero Adollo, appointments expected to further consolidate the company’s position in the asset and wealth management space.

FirstCap Ltd. also recorded a leadership change with the appointment of Ms. Yewande Amusan as Chairman. She will serve alongside Ahmed Indimi, Irene Akpofure, Adenike Kuti and Zeal Akaraiwe as board members.

At First Securities Brokers Ltd., Mr John Akpeki was named Chairman, with Omolara Adeyemi, Susan Younis and Kemi Andu-Alausa joining the board.

Similarly, First Trustees Ltd. appointed Mr John Lee as Chairman. Lee brings over 40 years’ experience in global financial services, with strong expertise in corporate and institutional banking as well as wealth management across Africa. Other board members include Abiola Alabi, Adebisi Sola-Adeyemi and Ugochukwu Obi-Chukwu.

For its insurance business, First Insurance Brokers appointed Mr Akinola Phillips as Chairman, supported by board members Ije Onejeme, Folukemi Akinmeji and Mojisola Cardozo.

Commenting on the appointments, the Group Chairman of First HoldCo Plc, Femi Otedola, said the group was delighted to welcome accomplished professionals to the boards of its non-commercial banking subsidiaries.

Otedola said the appointees’ expertise, track records and leadership would play a critical role in shaping the next phase of the group’s growth as a trusted African leader delivering innovative solutions across diverse sectors.
