SAN FRANCISCO, November 23, (THEWILL) – Mr. Umanah Umanah, the former Secretary to the State Government of Akwa Ibom State and leading governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will declare for the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, so as to actualize his governorship ambition, following the PDP’s decision to zone the state’s governorship ticket to Eket Senatorial District.
Going by the PDP’s directive to uphold its zoning principle in the state, aspirants in the party from Ikot Ekpene District and Uyo Senatorial District, where Umanah is from are not eligible to participate in the party’s governorship primary.
Umanah’s spokesman, Iboro Otongaran told the media in Uyo on Sunday that his principal would formally declare for the APC on Thursday at a ceremony that would have national and state leaders of the party in attendance.
The spokesman added that the PDP’s directive forced Umanah’s cross over to the APC.
