BEVERLY HILLS, March 16, (THEWILL) – Coach Willy Bazuaye, 79, an ex-member of the Green Eagles and former gold winning coach of Nigeria’s Golden Eaglet died on Monday morning at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), after an ailment.
The Edo State born Bazuaye had suffered a mild stroke that left him partially paralised for over decade.
During his successful coaching carrier, he won the maiden Under 17 World Cup in China in 1995, with the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria, and was an assistant coach of the U-23 National Team that won Africa’s first-ever football gold at the Atlanta Olympic Games, in 1996.
Bazuaye, whose son, Baldwin Bazuaye had also played for the Nigerian national team, coached the New Nigerian Bank (NNB) FC of Benin City as well as Bendel Insurance FC of Benin City.
