SAN FRANCISCO, May 30, (THEWILL) –Â A former governor of Kaduna State and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ramalan Yero, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at its Kaduna zonal office on charges bordering on money laundering, criminal conspiracy, and misappropriation of public funds amongst others.
Also in EFCC’s custody are a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Kaduna State, Haruna Gaiya, a former Minister of State for Power, Nuhu Way and former Secretary to the State government, SSG, Hamza Ishaq.
The politicians had been on administrative bail granted them by the EFCC in course of investigation into the handling and disbursement of N750 million campaign funds before the 2015 presidential election which the PDP lost.
The EFCC said they would be formally charged Thursday in Kaduna.
