July 31, (THEWILL) — A former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Victor Akande, has been reported dead.
Akande, a two-term member of the Assembly who represented Ojo Constituency 1 between 2015 and 2023, reportedly died on Wednesday from complications arising from an auto crash he was involved in last week in Ojo.
The late lawmaker was first elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015, but later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he secured a second term in 2019.
During his time in office, Akande held key responsibilities, notably serving as Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions, and the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
A stalwart of the APC in Ojo, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the news has affected the party in the constituency, considering Akande’s role.
