July 31, (THEWILL) — The Presidency has dismissed claims by former Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralph Nwosu, that senior officials in President Bola Tinubu’s administration lobbied him with three ministerial positions to reject the opposition coalition with his party.
Speaking at the ADC’s National Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday, where the party’s leadership was officially handed over to former Senate President, David Mark. Nwosu alleged that unnamed individuals had offered him three ministerial slots in a bid to dissuade him from turning the ADC into a coalition opposition platform.
Responding to his X handle, @BwalaDaniel, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, said Nwosu’s claims lack credibility and are figments of his mind.
Bwala clarified that only President Tinubu had the authority to offer or approve ministerial appointments.
“No government official(s) of whatever rank in our government can promise or grant ministerial slots but Mr President. From his words as reported, you know that he lied that senior government officials of the @officialABAT administration promised him 3 ministerial slots to not surrender his party to the coalition for a wild goose chase.”
Challenging Nwosu to name the individuals allegedly involved, Bwala said, “The same courage he mustered saying he was promised slots by the officials could have been used in mentioning their names and positions in this government. They are painfully graduating to the association of jesters or the Association of Disorganised Characters.”
