Former Super Eagles Forward Eneramo Collapses, Dies During Kaduna Match

April 24, (THEWILL) — Nigeria international Michael Eneramo has died after collapsing on the pitch during a football match in Kaduna State on Friday.

The incident occurred at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the Television area of Kaduna. Eneramo had entered the contest in the second half and fell to the ground without any physical contact from an opposing player.

A source present at the scene said: “He slumped and died right on the spot. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.”

The former striker was subsequently transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

During his playing career, Eneramo turned out for several clubs, among them Turkish side Beşiktaş, Tunisian outfit Espérance Sportive de Tunis, and Nigerian club Lobi Stars.

Following his retirement from professional football, the 40-year-old channelled his energy into youth development through his football academy.

The official Super Eagles account paid tribute with the words: “Rest in peace, Michael.”
