Former Vice President Akhigbe Finally Gives Up The Ghost
Former military Vice President and ex Chief of General Staff, Admiral Mike Okhai Akhigbe, finally gave up the ghost on Monday afternoon (EST) in his New York, USA home after a protracted battle with cancer, THEWILL can authoritatively report.
His family had earlier debunked reports of his death on Monday after several news mediums erroneously reported his demise early this morning even though he was still alive. The news mediums did retract their earlier reports.
However, a source very close to the Akhigbes told THEWILL via telephone late Monday afternoon that “Admiral finally gave up the ghost this afternoon in New York.”
The source added that plans were being made to fly his remains back to Edo State for burial.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, October 28, (THEWILL) – Former military Vice President and ex Chief of General Staff, Admiral Mike Akhigbe, is alive contrary to reports in the media that he is dead, his family said Monday.
THEWILL gathered that Akhigbe is being treated for an undisclosed kind of cancer in an American hospital.
Describing the reports of his death in a London hospital as false and embarrassing, his elder brother Chief Joseph Alemon Akhigbe, told a Nigerian daily newspaper that the former VP is being treated in a US hospital and not a London hospital.
“My brother is stabilizing in an American hospital and not even London as erroneously reported. As I speak to you now, the report in my opinion is pure speculation, the paper said he died in a London hospital but my brother is in an American hospital stabilizing. The wife, son-in-law and his daughter are with him. My immediate younger brother in Abuja who spoke to the wife in America confirmed to family members that the Admiral is stabilizing; the news of his death is totally untrue,” he told the Vanguard.
Another brother, Aselenmen Akhigbe, also told the paper that he spoke with the retired Naval Chief and businessman this morning describing reports of his death as untrue.
“I spoke with him this early morning at about 5am, that is why we are surprised with such an erroneous report,” he said.
