SAN FRANCISCO, September 24, (THEWILL) –  Yobe State governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, on Tuesday, expressed frustrations at the evil being perpetrated by Boko Haram insurgents as he threw caution to the winds and placed a curse on the members of the outlawed sect.

The governor said Boko Haram members will never succeed in their continuous campaign of violence against Nigeria and her people, stressing that God was bound to answer the prayers of His people in both Islamic and Christian faiths.

Maintaining that Boko Haram activities were against all known religious principles and teachings, Gaidam lamented that the sect has inflicted great pains on the people, especially in the two North-eastern States of Borno and Yobe.

Speaking at Buni-Yadi, headquarters of Gujba Local Government while inspecting public facilities destroyed by the insurgents, Gaidam said both Christians and Muslims have continued to pray for God’s intervention in the four years old insurgency.

Last Wednesday,Boko Haram insurgents attacked the commercial town of Buni-Yadi ,killing no fewer than three persons. The local government education office, fire service unit, resident of the Divisional Police Officer, a police station and a residential quarter were also burnt by the insurgents.

The governor however expressed optimism that the prayers of Nigerians would receive answer by God and that Boko Haram would not succeed in its bloodletting and the incessant attacks would soon be over as the affected areas will soon be liberated.

Gaidam said there was “nothing religious about the Boko Haram sect and its activities,” stressing that the ideology of the sect was “completely unacceptable,” as no religion believes in killing and compelling others to accept a way of worship.

Describing the attack on Buni-Yadi as “callous and barbaric,” Gaidam sympathised   with the victims and commended the security agencies in the state, assuring on government readiness to continue to support them to fight insurgency and other crimes in the area.
