March 24, (THEWILL) – A late injury will keep Ghana midfielder, Edmund Addo, out of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff two-leg ties against Nigeria.

After reporting to camp on Monday to prepare for the playoffs, the midfielder, who plays for Moldovan side, Sheriff Tiraspol, has been part of the training sessions. However, due to a thigh injury, confirmed through tests, he will be unable to play in the two games.

Team doctor, Adam Baba, confirmed this outcome when he spoke with the Ghana Football Association website. The medical professional said: “Edmund complained of pain in the right thigh, so we decided to take a scan to know the real situation.

“Unfortunately the scan results revealed that he has a tear in the right thigh and would need two to three weeks to recover. So, I informed the Coach about it and the decision was that we should allow him to travel to Moldova for treatment.”

On Thursday, the player is likely to return to Moldova for treatment.
