…As Two Marshals Die In Kalare Incident
BEVERLY HILLS, August 19, (THEWILL) – Residents of Gombe are now worried over the rising cases of youth restiveness in the State. Youth restiveness is known as Kalare in local parlance in the North East.
Kalare activities had in recent past been the bane among youths in the state who see political thuggery as the only available option.
Three days ago, two employees of the State Social and Community Development Agency (Gombe Marshals) were killed in Gombe by some restive youths .
Disclosing this on Tuesday was Alhaji Ahmed Yayari, the Chief of Staff to Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a non-governmental organisation, Gombe Unity and Development Forum.
Yayari, who advised the youths to shun vices that can destroy their future, described the killing of the two Gombe Marshals three days ago as unfortunate .
According to Yayari, “Three days ago, two of our marshals were killed just behind the Gombe Emir’s palace, near the house of Kwami Local Government Chairman, Ali Jijji, by some of these reckless youths.
“What is the benefit of killing someone. I am pleading with our youths to shy away from such a bad habit because it will not lead them anywhere. It will only destroy your future. This should be the last time we would see such occurring in Gombe.”
Yayari had made a similar appeal about two weeks ago at Kumo, Akko Local Government Area of the state, when some youths clashed, leaving many of them with various degrees of bad injuries.
Governor Dankwambo on assumption of office had floated a rehabilitation programme through the state Agency for Social and Community development to stop the trend.
But the rising cases of Kalare in recent times are giving residents of the state sleepless nights, especially as the 2015 general election approaches.
