August 29, (THEWILL) — The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Tersoo Kula, has explained that the construction of 390 kilometres of roads, especially within Makurdi metropolis, by the Alia administration is aimed at uplifting the state’s Infrastructure.
Fielding questions from newsmen on Wednesday, after a facility tour of some projects undertaken by the present administration, Sir Kula announced that the underpass projects in the State capital are complete and awaiting commissioning, while work on the one in Gboko is progressing steadily.
“The delay in the takeoff of the underpass project in Benue South was due to the ongoing dualization of the federal road from Makurdi-Otukpo-Enugu highway. Let me appeal to people of the zone to remain patient as other ongoing projects would be completed soon”, Kula stated.
Assuring that no part of the state, especially Benue South, would be marginalised in terms of project execution, he called for support to enable the Alia administration to complete all the projects awarded on record time.
At the Food Basket Brewery Limited, producers of ZEVA Premier Lager beer, Plant Manager Mr Emmanuel Adeoji stated that the annual production capacity is 600,000, while monthly production is 2,500, emphasising that the rate of alcoholic consumption in the state is high.
While commending Governor Alia for his foresight in establishing the company in the State, Adeoji said, there is no competition in this part of the country, adding that the entire production of larger in the Federation stood at between 200 million to 250 million only.
He explained that relevant machinery was being installed at the factory, awaiting the takeoff of mass production in December this year.
During the tour, the David Mark bypass 1.2 kilometre road was nearing completion, with Benfruit concentrate and Benval juice factories were under remodelling for production.
The Ishaya Bakut dualisation road, whose drainage was ongoing, while Fashion Hub and other facilities visited were at various stages of completion.
Two journalists, Henry Ibya of Aljazera newspaper, and John Shiaondo of Blueprint, at Akpehe Road, all praised the construction of drainage in the area, which channels water to River Benue, thereby averting the submerging of their residences during the rainy period.
Other respondents also acknowledged the speedy ongoing dualization work on Wurukum-Air Force-Angbaaye-Gboko federal highway, commending Governor Hyacinth Alia for taking over the project on behalf of the federal government.
