
February 11, (THEWILL) – The Ebonyi State Government under Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has said it will grant amnesty and rehabilitate 108 war detainees from the crisis-torn Effium autonomous community in the Ohaukwu local government area of Ebonyi State.
THEWILL reports that in the wake of the crisis in January 2021, some youths were arrested from the community and have been in detention for four years, disconnecting from their wives and kins.
Meanwhile, the Ebonyi State Governor will, on Tuesday, at the Nigeria Correctional Service Headquarters, declare an amnesty and rehabilitation programme for the detainees.
THEWILL recalls that the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ebonyi State, Ben Odoh, ordered the presiding Magistrate, Lynda Ogodo, to discharge the 180 crisis detainees from the Abakaliki Correctional Centre.
