March 26, (THEWILL) — Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has rejigged his cabinet, sacking the Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry, Shehu Sagagi, with immediate effect, as part of efforts to strengthen governance and enhance service delivery in Kano State.
A statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, confirmed that the removal takes immediate effect.
According to the statement, Sagagi has been directed to hand over the affairs of the ministry to the Director of Commerce pending further directives, in line with ongoing measures to reposition the ministry for improved performance.
Governor Yusuf, however, expressed appreciation for the services rendered by the former commissioner during his tenure. He acknowledged Sagagi’s contributions to the development of the state, particularly in the areas of politics, religious engagement, and the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which remain critical to Kano’s economic growth.
The governor also wished him success in his future endeavours, underscoring the administration’s recognition of dedication to public service.
The development highlights the administration’s ongoing strategic realignment of government structures to improve efficiency, deepen reforms, and accelerate sustainable development across Kano State.
The government further reassured residents of its commitment to strengthening institutions, attracting investment, and delivering greater economic opportunities, while ensuring continuity in governance and policy implementation.
