
July 05, (THEWILL) – The paramount ruler of Jechira, the Tor Jechira, His Royal Majesty, Chief Clement Uganden, has expressed gratitude to the leadership of the party for finding one of his subjects, Engr Titus Uba, worthy as the governorship flag bearer in next year’s general elections in Benue state.
Chief Uganden made the remark when the governorship candidate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Titus Uba and Mr Julius Atorough, for House of Representatives for Jechira federal constituency, presented their certificates of return to them at the palace in Vandeikya, the council headquarters.
The first class Chief noted that it will be a thing of joy for Jerchira Intermediate Area to produce the next governor of the State in 2023, after several years of waiting.
The monarch, assuring the candidates of their fatherly blessings, advised them to be civil, careful and avoid trouble, while traversing the State to canvass for support from other stakeholders in the project.
In his speech, the leader of PDP in Jechira, Chief David Amo, described the candidates as qualified for the positions vying for and commended the PDP family for the honour and called for support till victory was achieved, assuring of their ability to deliver on mandate if elected.
Other speakers including former Commissioner for Water Resources and Environment, Engr Dondo Ahire, Elder C. C Labar and Mr Bemgba Chia, lauded the State leadership of the party for zoning the 2023 governorship seat to Jechira and urged stakeholders from the area to mend fences and work for the victory of PDP at the polls.
In their separate remarks, the PDP zonal women leader, Mrs Margaret Num, who spoke for women, Benedict Kume for Youths, Chief Demenongu Unom and Alhaji Ibrahim Anor, all expressed confidence in the ability of Uba to deliver dividends of democracy to Benue people and sued for unity of purpose among Jechira people.
Earlier, Rt Hon Titus Uba alongside the House of Representatives flag bearer for Jechira Federal Constituency, Mr Julius Atorough, have presented their Certificates of Return to Jechira traditional council and PDP stakeholders from Jechira ahead of 2023 general elections.
The duo made the presentation at the Tor Jechira palace and LGEA Central primary school playing ground, Vandeikya, where the leadership and members of the party assembled to celebrate them for emerging victorious at the just concluded PDP primary elections in the State.
Uba, who is also the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, appreciated the leadership of the party in the State for giving them the opportunity to fly its flag and pledged to make the best use of the opportunity to put smiles on the faces of Benue people if voted into office.
He also expressed profound gratitude to the royal fathers for their sustained prayers and blessings, which he said, culminated to their victory at the Primary elections and sued for more support to enable them emerge victorious at the general elections, assuring that Jechira and indeed Benue people will not regret giving them their mandate come 2023.
The Benue PDP governorship candidate also received Dr Joseph Asan, Tyosombu Myim, as well as hundreds of other defectors from APC and other political parties into the PDP fold.
The governorship candidate shortly after, led his political associates to a condolence visit to Ter Kunav, HRH. Chief Nyiyongu Achiaku, who lost his wife some days ago.
