Takehiro Tomiyasu

March 21, (THEWILL) – Arsenal defender, Takehiro Tomiyasu, will miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury sustained during the Gunners’ UEFA Europa League clash with Sporting CP.

The Japan international was withdrawn in the opening exchanges of the game, which ended in a 1-1 draw and ultimately saw Arsenal lose on penalties. Despite his injury, the Gunners managed to secure a 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Tomiyasu underwent successful surgery on his right knee in London on Tuesday, which will rule him out of the remainder of the season. Arsenal confirmed the news in a statement and expressed their commitment to working with the player to ensure he is ready for pre-season training ahead of next season.
