BEVERLY HILLS, CA, October 24, (THEWILL) – The House of Representatives joint committee probing the alleged recruitment racketeering in the federal Ministries, Departments Agencies (MDAs) on Thursday queried the National Assembly Service Commission for recycling employment recruitment in the Commission based on the vacancy advertisement and interview it conducted since 2004.
Chairman of the committee, Hon. Andrew Uchendu (PDP, Rivers), who was disturbed by the development, ordered the Commission to explain why it has taken it many years to complete the recruitment exercise.
While making a presentation to the Committee on behalf of the Commission, Mrs. Ibikunle Mary Adegbite, disclosed that the Commission made its last recruitment exercise between 2003 and 2004 but the Committee discovered that the Commission actually recruited in 2007, 2008 and 2011.
When asked to explain the discrepancies between her claim and the submission made to the Committee and the rationale behind it, she disclosed that the recruitments were based on the advertisements for vacancies that were made between 2003 and 2004
Acting chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Alhaji ibrahim Lawal Funtua, however faulted the claim of the Commission on its last recruitment earlier put at 2004, saying the FCC was aware that the Commission was carrying out recruitment exercise which it claimed was meant for the engagement of more security personnel because of the security challenges in the country.
He said the FCC approached the Commission for the list of the personnel recruited but failed to produce the list for authentication with one excuse or the other till date.
Meanwhile, the Committee has summoned the Board of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Fire Service, Nigeria Prison Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to appear before it by next week.
