BEVERLY HILLS, JULY 21, (THEWILL) – Hon Adewale Elijah Oluwatayo, a member of the federal House of Representatives, representing Ifako/Ijaiye federal constituency of Lagos state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has died.
Oluwatayo was discovered in his bedroom, in Abuja, by his workers, on Thursday, when he did not show up as usual to prepare for work.
Speaker of the house, Yakubu Dogara, mourned the sudden death, saying he was “deeply affected” by the news of the sudden demise of the “hardworking, committed and patriotic lawmaker”.
“The late Hon. Elijah died when his services to the nation was most needed,” he said.
“We mourn our fallen colleague as one who gave his best in service to God and humanity. He was a committed and hardworking member who championed the cause of his people.
“Our hearts goes to his immediate family, the people of Ifako/Ijaiye Federal constituency and Lagos state over this great loss.
“I pray God almighty to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We will surely miss him in the Green Chamber.”
Oluwatayo was Special Adviser on education to former Governor of Lagos, Babatunde Fashola, between 2009 and 2011, and Chairman, electricity board, between 2004 and 2007.
