SAN FRANCISCO, May 22, (THEWILL) – The Kano State House of Assembly has suspended the probe of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, over an alleged misappropriation of N6bn belonging to the Kano emirate headed by Sanusi.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, told his colleagues on Monday that the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, had written to the House, seeking the suspension of the probe.
He quoted Ganduje as saying that eminent Nigerians like Acting President Yemi Osinbajo; former military president, Ibrahim Babangida; ex-head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar; Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar; billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote; among others pleaded on behalf of Sanusi.
According to Rurum, the governor’s letter added that a peace meeting was held in Kaduna, where the Emir “admitted all his mistakes and tendered an apology”.
This is coming barely a week after the state public complaint and anti-corruption commission suspended its probe of the Emir in deference to the Kano Assembly which at the time appeared bent on investigating the former CBN governor.
