SAN FRANCISCO, September 28, (THEWILL) – Chief Olu Falae, the kidnapped former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) has said his abductors received a ransom before he was set free contrary to claims made by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, that he was rescued without paying up.

Though Falae was silent on how much was paid, the kidnappers had demanded N100 million (about $444K) initially before lowering the figure to N90 million.

The chieftain of the pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, according to news reports, said he walked for about 25 miles after he was freed in Owo, a town in Ondo State, before the police found him and brought him home to Akure, the Ondo state capital.
