ICPC Set To Arraign Former Zamfara Governor Ahmed Sani And Others

BEVERLY HILLS, January 20, (THEWILL) – The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is set to arraign Former governor of Zamfara State, Ahmed Sani before a Zamfara State High Court over allegations of misappropriating a total sum of N324,820,141.24.

In the charge filed before the court and obtained by local reporters, indicated that the former governor will be arraigned alongside Hashim Dikko, Development Management Limited and HAD Nigeria Limited on Thursday.

The charge alleged that, in November 2006, they did commit an offence by spending the sum of N20 million purportedly on assistance to INEC, from the N1 billion additional budgetary allocation granted by the Zamfara State House of Assembly for the repair of collapsed Gusau Dam and settlement of the victims of the said dam, which was obtained through bank loan.

They were also alleged to have spent the sum of N10 million purportedly on donation, N43,008,000 on surveillance of guests, N21.5 million on settlement of publication equipment, N64,332,734 on sponsorship of government officials to hajj, N32,646,286 on settlement of accommodation.

In the 19-count charge preferred against them, they were also alleged to have spent the sum of N15.8 million on furniture allowance, N29.2 million on purchase of 2000 Nanfang motorcycles, N23.9 million on payment to automobile company, N14 million on payment of auditing of account, the sum of N14.2 million on Ramadan feeding, N14.5 million on purchase of four 406 Peugeot, N36 million on settlement of leave grant for teachers, and others.
