Ighalo Departs Al Hilal, Club Tweets Farewell

June 02, (THEWILL) – Former Nigerian forward, Odion Ighalo, has ended his association with Al Hilal, the Saudi Arabia Professional Football League club, after the conclusion of his contract.

The 33-year-old joined Al Hilal in January 2022, transferring from another Saudi club, Al Shabab. In his debut season with Al Hilal, Ighalo clinched the Saudi League title and emerged as the league’s leading goal scorer with an impressive tally of 24 goals.

Despite Al Hilal’s inability to defend their title in the recently concluded season, Ighalo’s contributions were commendable. Throughout the season, the forward managed to net 19 goals, including a double against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr when both teams met in April, as Al Hilal won 2-0. It was during his final season with Al Hilal that Ighalo triumphed in the King’s Cup, leaving a lasting mark on the team.

Expressing their gratitude, Al Hilal took to Twitter to thank Ighalo for his remarkable tenure with the club. In a tweet from the club’s official handle, they extended their appreciation and best wishes to the departing player. “Thanks @ighalojude. Wishing you good luck and success. #AlHilal,” the tweet read, signifying the positive relationship between the club and the departing striker.
