BEVERLY HILLS, July 30, (THEWILL) – The Imo State House of Assembly has impeached the Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Eze Madumere despite an order of the State High Court presided over by Justice Benjamin Iheka temporarily blocking the 7-member panel constituted by the Chief Judge from investigating allegations of misconduct and abandonment of duty against him.
Madumere, who has been locked in a succession battle with Governor Rochas Okorocha, was impeached Monday by 19 out of the 27 member-assembly.
The Speaker of the House, Acho Ihim, said the impeachment followed the outcome of the report of the 7-man panel constituted.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, is the ruling party in the state.
