March 09, (THEWILL)- Inter Milan clinched their 13th consecutive win across all competitions by defeating Bologna 1-0 at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. The victory extends their lead at the top of the Serie A table to a staggering 18 points.
The visitors started strongly, with Alexis Sanchez and Matteo Darmian coming close to scoring in the opening 10 minutes. Midway through the first half, Łukasz Skorupski produced a brilliant double save to deny Nicolo Barella from close range.
Inter’s pressure paid off when centre-backs Yann Bisseck and Alessandro Bastoni combined for the only goal, with Bisseck heading home Bastoni’s delightful cross.
Despite Bologna’s impressive home form of 11 wins in their last 12 games, they struggled to trouble Inter’s resolute defence. Stefan Posch and Joshua Zirkzee squandered opportunities in the second half as the visitors held firm to secure another clean sheet, their 13th of the league campaign.
The victory is all the more remarkable considering Bologna’s strong season, which has them sitting fourth in the table. They are one of only two teams to have defeated Inter this season. Nevertheless, the hosts’ six-game winning streak in Serie A came to an end.
Inter’s relentless form sees them charging towards the Scudetto at a rapid pace, while Bologna remain in contention for their first-ever UEFA Champions League qualification.
