November 09, (THEWILL) – The Tiv Language, History and Culture Development Association (TLHCDA) is organising an international conference to promote and preserve Tiv heritage.
The 3-day event, with the theme ‘Tiv Language, History and Culture in the 21st Century’, will take place from November 10 to November 12, 2024, at the Social Sciences Auditorium of the Benue State University, Makurdi.
A release by the organisers indicates that day one, which is Sunday, November 10, 2024, is the arrival and registration of participants.
On Monday, November 11, 2024, is the opening ceremony, featuring keynote addresses by Prof. Zacharys Anger Gundu, the Vice Chancellor, University of MKAR and Prof. Obiajulu Emejulu, former Director of NINLAN Aba, Nigeria, cultural dance interlude, speech by Tor Tiv, HRM Orcivirigh, Prof. James Ortese Lorzua Ayatse (CFR), Governor Hyacinth Alia’s remarks and official opening of the conference.
On the same day, two will also witness Lead presentations by Prof. Eyo Mensah and Prof. Chris Agbedo, as well as Group presentations and plenary sessions.
According to the release, day three, which is on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, will continue with Group presentations and a second round of presentations, a plenary session, a presentation of certificates and closing remarks by the President of Tiv Language Studies and Development Association.
Distinguished Guests and Speakers at the event include, the Tor Tiv, HRM Orcivirigh Prof. James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse (CFR), Governor of Benue State Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia is the Special Guest, Prof. Zacharys Anger Gundu, Vice Chancellor, University of MKAR, Prof. Obiajulu Emejulu, Former Director of NINLAN Aba, Prof. Eyo Mensah and Prof. Chris Agbedo are lead presenters.
The Tiv Language Studies and Development Association was incorporated in 2000, to promote Tiv language, history and culture, with Rev. Fr. Tagesa Akpagher, as President.
