
May 12, (THEWILL) –Â In line with his vision of giving priority to the empowerment of youths and their development, the Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Council, Hon (Barr) Etetim Onuk, has splashed a total of N1 Million on 10 youths in the first phase of a special empowerment scheme, organised for 25 youths from the Local Government Area.
Onuk, who distributed a hundred thousand Naira to each of the beneficiaries, enjoined them to make judicious use of the money, saying that the present administration will always initiate policies that would improve the lives of their people and encourage self reliance.
The chairman used the opportunity to call on the people of Itu Local Government Area to continue working towards the actualisation of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s completion agenda and his succession plan.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Imo Ime Udo, thanked the Chairman for keeping to his promise and pledged to always support the government’s policies and programs. He also assured the Chairman that they will use them for positive and beneficial purposes only.
The Chairman Board of Trustee, Etaha Itam, Market and Special Assistant to the Chairman on Trade and Market Affairs, Mr Godwin Ebong, also applauded the Council Chairman for ensuring the youths are carried along in the scheme of things in the Local Government.
Similarly, Mr Idongesit Philip poured encomium on Barr. Onuk, describing him as a youth friendly leader who has always been accessible.
