March 24, (THEWILL) – Ivory Coast secured a comfortable victory in their latest 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Comoros, at Stade Bouake on Friday night.
The Ivorians dominated their opponents from the opening whistle, launching multiple attacks and carving out goal-scoring opportunities. Comoros struggled to contain Ivory Coast’s relentless pressure, with the home team’s star-studded lineup producing quality attacking moves throughout the match.
After 30 minutes of play, the Ivorians took the lead through a well-taken effort from Christian Kouame inside the Comoros box. Ivory Coast continued to dominate in the second half, doubling their lead with a thumping header from Sebastien Haller.
Jean-Phillippe Krasso added a third in the dying minutes of the game to put the result beyond doubt. Although Comoros managed to score a consolation goal in added time, it was not enough to prevent Ivory Coast from claiming all three points.
The Ivorians lead the Group H qualifying series with seven points after three matches, closely followed by Zambia on six points. Comoros are third, while Lesotho completes the group rock bottom.
