September 02, (THEWILL) – Nigerian attacking midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has ended his four-year stay at Everton, by sealing a deadline day move to Fulham for a reported fee of £22 million.

The 27-year-old put pen to paper on a 5-year contract that will keep him at Craven Cottage until 2028. THEWILL recalls that Iwobi rose through the youth ranks at Arsenal before breaking into the first team in 2015. He went on to make 149 appearances for the Gunners, winning the FA Cup in 2017. However, after falling down the pecking order, he joined Everton in 2019 for an initial £28m.

The Nigerian international played 140 times for the Toffees over the past three seasons, scoring nine goals. But with Everton looking to refresh their squad this summer, Iwobi has been allowed to move back to London with newly-promoted Fulham.

The versatile attacking midfielder will now link up with Marco Silva once again, having worked under the Portuguese manager during his time at Goodison Park. Iwobi has already outlined his excitement at the move, saying: “I’m buzzing, I just can’t wait to get started.”

Since making his international debut in 2015, Iwobi has earned 63 caps for Nigeria, scoring 10 goals. Fulham will be hoping the London-born star can bring his creative flair to help them retain their English Premier League status this season.
