October 25, (THEWILL) – The Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Health Care Professionals (JOHESU) has declared a seven-day warning strike, effective midnight Friday, October 25.

The national chairman of the union, Kabiru Minjibir, announced the action following the expiration of a fifteen-day notice of industrial action issued to the Federal Government.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja on Friday, Minjibir highlighted demands of the union, which included the immediate implementation of the consolidated health salary structure, payment of a twenty-five percent review of its arrears from June to December 2023, upward review of retirement age for health workers, tax waiver on healthcare workers allowances and the immediate payment of COVID-19 inducement hazard allowances, among other demands.
