May 09, (THEWILL) – The father of Lionel Messi has issued a strong response to recent reports suggesting that his son has reached an agreement to join a Saudi Arabian club.
Speculation has been rife, particularly in France, claiming that Messi has already accepted terms with a team in the Saudi Pro League for next season, following the conclusion of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). However, Jorge Messi has emphatically denied these reports, stating that no decision has been made yet regarding his son’s future.
In a statement, the older Messi vehemently refuted the claims, expressing his frustration with the media’s coverage. He stated: “There is absolutely nothing with any club for next year. The decision will never be made before Lionel ends the league with PSG.”
He further emphasised that any decision regarding Messi’s future will only be made after the season concludes, and the family will carefully analyse their options before reaching a final decision. Jorge also criticised the lack of evidence and respect shown by those spreading unfounded rumours.
He said, “It seems to me a lack of respect, that there are those who consciously and deliberately deceive without providing proof of any of their claims and wanting to turn any malicious rumour into news or that is directed by someone in favour of their interests.” He also criticised those who use his son’s name just to gain attention.
