SAN FRANCISCO, December 09, (THEWILL) –Â British heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been cleared to face Bulgarian challenger Kubrat Pulev in their world heavyweight title fight after Joshua tested negative for COVID-19.
The 31-year-old unified champion took a test on Tuesday before entering the pre-fight bubble. The confirmation came on Wednesday morning with the greenlight that he can face Pulev at The SSE Arena in Wembley on Saturday night.
Joshua will enter the ring to defend his World Boxing Organisation (WBO), World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) titles against Pulev in front of a small number of boxing fans due to Coronavirus restrictions.
Victory for Joshua will clear the path for an undisputed world heavyweight title fight against World Boxing Council (WBC) champion Tyson Fury next year where the winner will hold all the heavyweight titles.
