BEVERLY HILLS, June 06, (THEWILL) – Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia of the Federal High Court Lagos Monday granted a convicted a former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr. Raymond Omatseye bail pending the appeal of his conviction by her over a N1.5 billion contract scam during his tenure.
Omatseye was jailed 5 years following his conviction on multiple counts on May 20, 2016.
Court sources told THEWILL that Omatseye’s bail conditions include depositing N500, 000 (Five hundred thousand naira) alongside his international travel passport with the court. He must also provide two sureties, one of whom must be a level 16 civil servant.
