September 16, (THEWILL) – Juventus have gone top of Serie A after a commanding 3-1 win over Lazio on Saturday, with Dusan Vlahovic scoring twice and Federico Chiesa adding the other.
The Old Lady made a flying start to the game and were ahead within 10 minutes, Vlahovic finishing off a slick move to convert Manuel Locatelli’s cross. Juventus doubled their lead in the 26th minute, Adrien Rabiot playing Chiesa through on goal and the Italian winger firing into the bottom corner.
Wojciech Szczesny made a fine save to deny Daichi Kamada, before Lazio halved the deficit in the second half through Luis Alberto’s brilliant shot past the Juventus goalkeeper. But, Vlahovic restored Juventus’ two-goal advantage just three minutes later, though, bringing the ball down under pressure before rifling it past Ivan Provedel.
Juventus held on comfortably for the win to move top of the table, while Lazio are now in danger of dropping into the relegation zone. Maurizio Sarri’s side were mostly disappointing in the game and were second-best in all areas of the pitch as they struggled to create clear-cut chances.
Juventus are in action again on Saturday when they travel to Sassuolo. Lazio, meanwhile, host Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
