BEVERLY HILLS, October 14, (THEWILL) – The Senate Wednesday confirmed the Group General Manager (GMD) of the NNPC, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, former Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and 16 other ministerial nominees, who were screened on Tuesday and Wednesday, as ministers of the government of the federal republic of Nigeria.
Their confirmation was done through a voice vote by senators present at Wednesday’s screening exercise, where only 8 nominees were screened.
The Senate had on Tuesday screened 10 nominees.
Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, who presided over the Tuesday and Wednesday sessions, read out the names of the nominees one after another before the voice votes.
The other nominees who got confirmed are: Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma (A-Ibom), Dr. Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Chief Audu Ogbeh (Benue), Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu (Ebonyi), Dr. Osagie Ehanire (Edo), Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (Kano), Alhaji Lai Mohammed (Kwara), Amina Ibrahim Mohammed (Gombe), Engr. Suleiman H. Adamu (Jigawa), Ibrahim Usman Jibril (Nasarawa), Abubakar Malami, SAN, Dr (Sen.) Chris Nwabueze Ngige (Anambra), Sen. Aisha Jummai Alhassan, Barrister Solomon Dalong, Mrs Kemi Adeosun (Ogun) and Sen. Hadi Sirika.
The senate postponed the screening of former Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi to enable the senate panel investigating allegations of graft against him by senators from his state, submit its report.
