February 11, (THEWILL) – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member representing Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, Amos Gwamna Magaji, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Magaji, a two-time member of the House and Chairman of the Kaduna caucus in the House of Representatives, is the Chairman of the House Committee on Health Care Services. He is also Deputy Chairman of the House Special Ad-hoc Committee on the Restructuring of Government Agencies and Commissions.
The lawmaker announced his defection in a letter read at House Plenary on Tuesday, citing “unresolved crisis” in the party.
His defection was, however, opposed by Minority Leader, Kingsley Chinda, citing section 68(1g) of the Constitution. Chinda asked the Speaker to declare the seat of the Kaduna lawmakers vacant.
