February 11, (THEWILL) – The Benue State Police Command has reported the recovery of three bodies following a clash between the Black and Red Confraternities during their meeting across the River Benue.
The Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Sewuese Anene, who spoke in Makurdi on Tuesday, said during the investigation, three corpses were recovered at the scene, while ten suspects were arrested in connection with the case.
The PPRO listed those arrested in connection with case to include Simon Mande, Moses Tarlumun, Jamilu Idris, Seleki Joseph, Ahmed Dayabu, Muazu Usman, Akor Ada, Terfa Wergba, Almustapha Abubakar and Usman Gambo, all males of Wadata area.
While assuring that investigation is ongoing to arrest other suspected cultists at large, she said following the report of a missing child at North Bank area, information was received at ‘E’ Division, Makurdi, that one Obadiah Samaila ‘M’ of Kizito Junction Agyragu, Doduguru, Nasarawa State, was seen around George Akume way, Makurdi, with a boy that he could not give satisfactory account of his origin.
“Swiftly, the suspect was arrested and brought to the Police station, where he confessed to have stolen the child from his house in Northbank for trafficking.”
The PPRO also confirmed the interception and arrest of one Idris Garba, Mohammed Usman, Ibrahim Mohammed and Rafa Muazu, all `M’ of Lafia, Nasarawa state, and Sunday Demekaa, ‘M’ of Gwer-East Local Government Area with a Nissan truck loaded with iron pipelines, suspected to be stolen.
“Suspects could not give a satisfactory account of how they got these items. Investigation revealed that these are petroleum pipelines that have been vandalised around Gwer-Local Government Area and taken to an unknown destination. Investigation is ongoing to identify other suspects that are connected with the case”, she stated.
She also confirmed the arrest of a three-man robbery gang operating around Yogbo village in Guma Local Government Area, including one Yakubu Kantoma, ‘m’ 32yrs and Abu Ishaku, ‘m’ 25yrs, both of Sekereke, Yogbo village.
CSP Anene stated that the suspects have been identified by one of their victims and that an investigation is ongoing to track others so as to charge them to Court.
