Kane Scores Twice As Bayern Beat Koln 4-1 In DFB-Pokal

HArry Kane

October 30, (THEWILL) — Harry Kane netted twice to guide Bayern Munich past Koln 4-1 in the DFB-Pokal, sending the Bavarian side through to the round of 16. The visitors fell behind to Ragnar Ache’s 31st-minute header but responded with two quick goals before the break to seize control.

Koln threatened early through Isak Bergmann Johannesson and Jakub Kaminski, with goalkeeper Jonas Urbig forced into action at the other end to deny Luis Diaz twice. Ache broke the deadlock when he powered home a header from Johannesson’s corner, but Bayern’s response came within five minutes. Konrad Laimer drove forward to set up Diaz, who converted the rebound after Josip Stanisic’s initial effort was saved by Ron-Robert Zieler.

Kane completed the turnaround before half-time with a superb finish. The striker dispossessed his marker on the right edge of the penalty area before curling a shot into the far corner from a difficult angle. His second goal arrived just after the hour mark, meeting Joshua Kimmich’s corner with a powerful header that beat Zieler.

Michael Olise wrapped up the victory in the 72nd minute. The winger began the move deep in his own half before sprinting forward to meet Diaz’s cross, applying a clinical first-time finish to complete the rout.

Bayern’s second-half performance confirmed their superiority, with Diaz missing a chance to add further goals when he fired over after a solo run. The win extends their progress in the domestic cup competition and maintains momentum following their comeback from the early setback.
