SAN FRANCISCO, August 16, (THEWILL) – Manchester City and Belgium midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, has clinched the English Premier League (EPL) player of the 2019-20 season.

The former Chelsea player defeated Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold to clinch the annual accolade. Other nominees include Southampton striker Danny Ings, Burnley goalkeeper, Nick Pope and Leicester City’s Golden Boot winner, Jamie Vardy were also nominated.

The Belgian footballer was the only Man City player to be shortlisted for the prize.

De Bruyne had a productive season for the Citizens as he recorded 20 assists equaling the league record set by Thierry Henry in 2003.
