SAN FRANCISCO, August 16, (THEWILL) – Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has been named the English Premier League manager of the season after he guided The Reds to its first EPL title in 30 years.
Klopp defeated Chelsea’s Frank Lampard, Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers and Chris Wilder, manager of Sheffield United, to clinch the annual award.
This award adds to the League Managers’ Association manager of the year award which was won by the former Borussia Dortmund coach in July.
The German has since set a record as the first German coach to win the EPL manager of the season award following a record-breaking season that saw Liverpool lift the EPL title with 99 points.
Liverpool won a record-equaling 18 successive matches, 32 league victories and 55 points from a possible 57 points at home.
THEWILL reports that Klopp’s award is Liverpool’s second individual honours from the league’s governing body as Trent Alexander-Arnold also bagged the EPL young player of the season prize on Friday.
