September 2, (THEWILL) – Self acclaimed African giant, Ebunoluwa Damini Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, has stated that he was prevented from entering the United Kingdom for seven years.
The Afro-fusion singer, recently made this known in an interview with Interval Presents, a culture forward multi audio content platform for music and pop culture, owned by Warner Music Group.
One of the presenters said that Burna Boy’s career only took off after his hit song ‘Ye’ dropped, which went into the stratosphere with ‘Last Last’.
Responding, the singer said the assumption was correct. He noted that his career growth was stunted for the first seven years because he wasn’t allowed into the U.K.
Though he didn’t reveal reasons for being prevented from entering the UK, he noted that after his ban was lifted, he knew it was over for every other artiste because he was ready to take over the music scene.
Recall that in 2016, Burna Boy had made his first appearance in UK after a couple of years absence from the scene.
The singer was banned from the UK for his involvement in a gang related crime, which led to his imprisonment at HM Prison, Chelmsford.
He jumped bail during parole and returned to Nigeria to face his music career.
